CRN welcomes the announcement from the Minister, Hon Pru Goward, to approve 3 year funding arrangements for existing FACS (Family and Community Services) funded services under the TEI (Targeted Earlier Intervention) program.
This announcement has been received with much relief from service providers as it comes only a few months before funding contracts were due to run out on 30 June 2017. The much needed funding certainty will ensure ongoing service delivery to clients, whilst allowing time for the TEI planning and implementation to occur.
Over the past 2 years many organisation’s, including CRN, have been part of an ongoing reform process through various consultation sessions held with FACS. On 22 February 2017, community sector peak organisations met with Minister Goward to express concerns over the current reform deadlines and to advocate the extension of timeframes and provide certainty and communication to the sector regarding the renewal of contracts. (Click here to read a joint statement from the peaks on the outcomes of the meeting).
Over the next 3 years, services will be required to continue to work with FACS to implement TEI program reforms. For more information about the reforms and to view documentation to support program planning and implementation, visit the FACS TEI Program Reform web page.
